Volunteer Information

If you are searching for a rewarding experience and love working with animals, we invite you to join us by volunteering for one of our many exciting positions at the Animal Shelter of Sullivan County, Tennessee. Our volunteers and fosters are a part of our team and help showcase our animals in need of a home.

The minimum age to volunteer without a parent or guardian present is 16 years old. Those under 16 years old may volunteer if accompanied by a parent or guardian who also volunteers. All volunteers under 18 years old must have a volunteer application signed by a parent or guardian on file.

All volunteers, other than those who are sewing or crafting for the shelter animals, are required to attend a Volunteer Orientation to familiarize them with basic animal handling training prior to interacting with any of the animals.

Volunteers will help with a number of responsibilities around the animal shelter such as bathing, feeding and watering the animals. Other responsibilities include stocking product, comforting cats, walking dogs, taking photos and assisting the office when needed.

For more information on volunteering or fostering, call 423-279-2741. With volunteers like you, we can rise to meet the challenge of animals coming through our shelter.

Thank you for your time and volunteer spirit!
