Our Mission:
Increase awareness in Sullivan County about the humane treatment of animals through responsible sheltering, education, spay/neuter assistance and access to wellness.
Important Information:
The Animal Shelter of Sullivan County, Tennessee, conducts owner surrenders by appointment only. Please call 423-279-2741 to make an appointment. No walk-in surrenders will be permitted.
All animal control calls will be dispatched in a triage fashion, taking into consideration the urgent nature of the call. All strays must be brought in by animal control.

🦃 In recognition of Thanksgiving and to give our staff time with their family , The Animal Shelter of Sullivan County will be CLOSED from Thursday, November 28th- Sunday, December 1st. No business will be conducted during those days. We will reopen for business on Monday, December 2nd at 12:30pm. Please stay tuned for our Annual Thanksgiving Dinner (veterinarian approved) for our shelter pets! 🍽️

As you prepare for Thanksgiving and Christmas with your family and friends, please mark your calendar for December 3, 2024 as Giving Tuesday. This annual fundraiser helps millions of dogs and cats around the country. This year, The Animal Shelter of Sullivan County has set a fundraising goal of $10,000. Once Giving Tuesday starts, please be ready to give!
100% of your donations will go to getting a new washer/dryer for our shelter.
In October 2024, our area was hit by Hurricane Helene. Our shelter was not impacted directly, but we helped out shelters that were hit. We took in animals from counties that got directly hit and in turn it overwhelmed our machines. Due to this, our washers/dryers were overworked and essentially quit working. We were not expecting the expense of having to replace them at this time.
Giving Tuesday will help us reach our goal and get the money we need to get new washers/dryers and to upgrade the laundry room so that we do not have this problem in the future. Please consider helping our tiny but mighty shelter.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. For those only needing flea meds, distemper vaccines, bordetella or Lepto vaccines, please call the shelter to make a technician appointment. These appointments are available year round. Please note rabies vaccines are not available through tech appointments.
