The Animal Shelter of Sullivan County is committed to minimizing the average length of stay for our canines. It is our goal to get surrendered or abandoned pets swiftly into homes. Currently canine length of stay in our shelter is averaging less than 1 week with most completing the “Crosswalk” in about 3-5 days. This allows our team to focus more on canines that come in with advanced medical and or social needs by fast tracking those ready for their new home through the program. While our entire staff is Fear Free certified there is simply no shelter substitute for the comforts of home. We utilize fosters and have an extensive network of rescue partners to help expedite each and every dog finding their “Happily Ever After”.
